where was white comanche filmed

Revisiting this film tonight, I realize I may have been too lenient. This nasty bit of Westploitation has a story which sounds intriguing (if you haven't seen Flaming Star) where two brothers, one a nice but generic cowboy, and one a 'white Comanche' complete with native paint, have an uneasy relationship. Producer Sam White recalled that Shatner tried to get the NBC network to buy the film to show on television. It's bad enough that the decidedly not American-Indian Shatner plays the twins, but where the set-up gets real racist is that one twin embraced his white half and is overwhelmingly decent while the one that lived with the Comanche tribe is a violent, gleeful rapist. The problem is that both brothers here are played by William Shatner, and the minimal production values mean the scenes where they both appear together are laughable. Comanche is a 1956 American CinemaScope Western film directed by George Sherman and starring Dana Andrews. Novelty of William Shatner playing two roles, one of which is an Indian chief, wears off fast. In fact, after first showing up in a couple of brief scenes in the movie's first few minutes, the character doesn't appear again until almost an hour has passed! There’s some terribly edited fisticuffs and shoot-outs throughout but there’s a fun one in a saloon near the beginning where the Shat gets….

Not a huge amount to recommend this western unless you must absolutely positively see everything that Shatner has ever starred in. Twin brothers, half white and half Comanche, take different paths that overlap with Johnny Moon getting blamed for Notah's violent acts until the final confrontation in Rio Hondo. TMDb William Shatner plays twin "half-breed" Indians - one good, one evil. Then, when it's time to lead the Comanches back to the reservation, he's back on a black horse again. This film seriously has one of the shittiest soundtracks my poor lugs have ever been subjected to. Shatner playing the Comanche is as ridiculous as you’d imagine. Really awful, yet it kinda does come full circle and ends up being hilarious for many reasons. He doesn’t shoulder all the blame though, there’s a whole lot of pieces coming together to make a substandard puzzle. IMDb The film has a theme song "A Man Is As Good As His Word" sung by The Lancers. And for a few minutes Shatner being hugely out of his depth and being required to have his pasty moobs on show for one of his roles is amusing. White Comanche. Mariano Vidal Molina as Gen. Garcia in White Comanche (1968) Trivia: William Shatner’s only Spaghetti Western, this was filmed while he was on hiatus from “Star Trek” (1966-1969). However, despite what the title may suggest, the movie isn't really about the white Comanche character. It sounds like it's going to be amazingly bad because it's got William Shatner in it - and playing both a drifter and his twin brother who has a habit of getting hyped up on peyote and leading the local comanches on raids. Some of the Western action isn't that bad, but it's practically contextless because of the scattershot approach to plot. Then the whole twin thing kind of takes a backseat to some land-grubbing inner war that's underexplained and involving separate characters who are thoroughly uninteresting. The movie is mostly an uninspired slog, but it might be worth watching just to see Shatner embarrass himself. All this in mind, it’s still not terrible. The Shat plays both the good guy Johnny Generic Cowboy, and the evil White Comanche.…, Scavenge Hunt Hunt 53: Film 8/31 - Watch a movie about brothers.
