3 Stars: This book was good. Later, adjusting to life in the White House was a formidable challenge for the self-described “control freak”—not to mention the difficulty of sparing their daughters the ugly side of politics and preserving their privacy as much as possible. I have mostly read novels and only a couple of nonfiction books about WWII but this might be the first memoir. Michelle Obama

I was also never really aware of how the rounding up of the Jewish went down outside of Germany (or, again, how early it started), so it was really interesting to read about everything Edith and her family went through to try to avoid it and and their experience once they were caught.
